Candlelight Nights in Bournemouth Gardens take place on Wednesday evenings in August.
In recent years, Bournemouth Gardens has had thousands of tea lights in jars hung from trees throughout the Lower Gardens and visitors could pick up a free taper, and join in the lighting of these candles, making the Gardens look like a fairy tale wonderland.
Candlelight Nights 2017
This year the Candlelight Nights are reverting to the original concept of having a candlelit procession through the Lower Gardens.
In 1888 Empress Elizabeth of Austria visited Bournemouth and the paths in Bournemouth Gardens were candlelit in the same fashion as at Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna, and Candlight Nights 2017 will see the re-enactment of this procession.
There is entertainment in the Lower Gardens from 7pm, and the procession starts at about 8.45pm. This year the processions will take place on the 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd August
