Swanage Rep Season makes a comeback at the Mowlem Theatre for the first time in 25 years! The Swanage Rep Season hopes to give people an opportunity to experience rep, and revive what is an important part of our national heritage. Repertory has long been the traditional training ground for British actors, and some of our best-loved actors cut their teeth in Rep. Don’t miss an opportunity to see the stars of the future live in Swanage.
3 weeks and 3 plays
Yes, Prime Minister – Thursday 10-Tuesday 15 August
Yes, Prime Minister is by Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, the original writers of the classic BBC TV series. This play brings us yet more hilarious satire and farcical goings on from the corridors.
The Secret Garden – Thursday 17-Tuesday 22 August
This version of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel has been adapted for the stage by Dave Simpson. It’s a beautiful portrayal of the well-loved children’s classic, which was last performed in Bournemouth 3 decades ago. A touching escape to the country for all the family to enjoy.
The Game’s Afoot – Thursday 24-Tuesday 29 August
Ken Ludwig’s The Game’s Afoot is a Sherlock Holmes-style comedy thriller. A good old traditional ‘whodunnit’ with a generous dose of hilarity. It was also the winner of the 2012 Edgar Award for Best Play from the Mystery Writers of America.
