Bournemouth is the perfect place to appreciate the best of Autumn. The town is relaxed after the activity of summer, but there is still plenty to do. The weather is relatively warm and can stay in the high teens until well into October, and the average for November is 10°C.
Bournemouth Autumn Festivals
The BFX Festival is on every Autumn in late September-early October. It is fast becoming recognised as one the most important events on the visual effects and animation calendar. It includes an academic conference, festival and workshops. The festival and some of the workshops are open to the public.
Bournemouth Marathon Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday 1and 2 October 2016. It includes 5km, 10km, half marathon and the full marathon. There are also events for children.
The Arts by the Sea Festival – a festival of art, music and dance for the ‘culturally curious’ is on at various locations throughout the town during September.
Walking and Cycling in Bournemouth
There are some lovely easy, peaceful walks through the gardens and along the beach, with some more energetic routes along the coast that feature breath-taking views.
Cycle along the sea front, a lovely, easy flat ride, or go further afield and ride out through the Purbecks or the New Forest.
If you’ve still got time, Bournemouth is a great base for some interesting day trips. Drive, or get the Purbeck Breezer bus to Swanage and Corfe Castle, or head in the other direction and enjoy a day in the New Forest.
